Announcements Some up-coming events: Our MAP job assistance computer station is operational in our Activity Room. If you are a veteran and need help applying for a job, come by and we will help you. If you are a vet but not one of our members, you are still welcome but please bring documentation that proves you are a vet. Examples would be a VA medical card, a DD 214, copies of orders or any other military document that proves you served. If you are interested in learning more about the many ways the VFW helps vets, military families and their local communities, go to our MAP page and look through the brochure. You will also find helpful links for job searches there. Help soldiers call home from combat zones by joining us in assisting Operation Cell Phones For Soldiers. See the press release, the flyer, instructions about dropping off old cell phones at VFW Post 56 and visit their website. On July 19th, Boy Scout Troop 176 assisted us on our Operation Cell Phones For Soldiers kick off event. See the KSHB-TV article and video on our Post's efforts. VFW Post 56, through the efforts of our Junior Vice Commander is assisting in Operation Undergarment; please contribute. You don't have to give the shirt off your back but any small monetary donation or a donation of clean, new undergarments is appreciated. Contact our Junior Vice Commander, Lynn Rolf III, for details of how to help. Some messages by our officers are posted on the web site. The Junior Vice Commander has posted a message to the membership. The Post Surgeon has this message about volunteering to help vets and the tracking of those hours. At our Library Page we have included our By Laws and the VFW Manual of Procedure among other publications of interest. Flyers that have been given to our VFW by local groups or businesses that have special offers for Veterans are there; see the Trails West Golf Course flyer and the Tintype Photo flyer. |
